A girl named Tove came into his life, who has been the Finnish national karate champion 6 times. She met Torvalds in 1993.

It so happened that Torvalds set up a computer laboratory exercise for his students and asked them to send him an email as a test.

Then Tove asked Torvald for a date through email and the talk went ahead with him and later Torvalds got married with her. He also has two daughters.
